Just a thought....

Just continuing from my last post, I raise the question: How many riders out there actually have their trainer sit on their horse? Whether regularly or at least once every six months?

I'm a believer that it is important to have someone more experienced and knowledgable ride your horse, as they can immediately pin-point problems that sometimes you thought were acceptable/normal. It is almost like you get a reality check on your training, and regularly get pointed in the right direction.

Sure, some people say that a good trainer with a good eye won't have to get on your horse, but just think of how many horses out there look stunning, but in reality are extremely difficult to ride, or not evenn correctly trained...

My last trainer use to ride my horse once in awhile. We would some times switch horses since he knew how his horse worked and moved then he could figure mine out that way he may find a way to get her to move better and help me out. My new trainer has not. She has back problems but still manages to give good advice.

That sounded like a great training plan! It is also good to ride other experienced horses to feel what you want to feel in your own. Much like riding horses who can do flying changes in order to teach them to your own.
Back problems are a very understandable reason why people won't get on and ride your horse, but you are right, that doesn't mean they can't help you :)
